The Art and
Science of
Wellness

art therapy

is an evidence-informed psychotherapeutic modality that integrates the power of art-making and creative expression with mind-body wellness. Art media in the form of paint, clay, collage, sand, pencils, textiles, sculptures, and mixed media are utilized therapeutically as targeted interventions to engage specific neural pathways in the brain to facilitate emotional, cognitive, behavioral, and functional restructuring.

A natural, non-pharmacological approach to wellness

Distinct from recreational or self-directed art-making, Art Therapy is a therapeutic approach facilitated exclusively by trained and credentialed professionals in a clinical setting for the treatment of a broad-spectrum of  clinical profiles and conditions ranging from mood and personality challenges (including depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, and selective mutism), to cognitive profiles (such as neurological impairments, brain injury recovery, learning difficulties, age-related cognitive decline). It also addresses neurodevelopmental variations (including developmental delays, autism, ADHD), and lifestyle-related concerns (such as sleep, weight management, pain, aging, and menopause). Designed for both children and adults across the lifespan, art therapy facilitates neuropsychological resilience, emotion regulation, and overall quality of life.

Art therapy offers a natural, non-pharmacological approach to wellness, bypassing verbal and physical limitations to directly stimulate neuroplasticity and neurogenesis. This process strengthens synaptic connections and increases cortical volume in brain regions responsible for sensory, emotional, cognitive, and functional restoration.

With over 21 years of licensed clinical practice in the hospital, private, institutional, and community-wide settings, Dr. Maricar P. Fajardo bridges the gap between the art of wellness and the science of evidence-based care. At every step of the therapeutic continuum, she collaborates with you to identify your unique, individual biopsychosocial profiles - uncovering the 'why' behind your thinking patterns, emotions, behaviors, and neuro-cognitive functioning - to formulate the methodological 'how' for an evidenced-based wellness plan that is intentionally designed for you. Her therapeutic framework is anchored on a preventative-proactive approach to wellness alongside a clear, structured pathway to healing and recovery. Grounded through the lens of compassionate care, her intervention modalities are patient-centered, insight-oriented, mindfulness-based, and creativity-focused. Her clinical demographic encompasses individuals across the lifespan, from early childhood through late adulthood.
